Timings: Every Friday at 8 p.m., begins on January 21, 2011
Writer: Rukhsana Nigar
Director: Shahid Shafaat
Cast: Humayun Saeed, Sania Saeed and Ayesha Khan
According to the director Shahid who spoke to the blogger just before the drama goes on air from tomorrow onwards, “it’s been a long time since Sania and Humayun worked together that is why I cast Humayun for the serial.” Humayun and Sania were last seen together in Mehreen Jabbar’s serial “Aur Zindagi Badalti Hai” in 2000 and “Kahaniyan” in 2001, again by the same director, a 13 episode series.
From the looks of the initial promos it appears that Sania and Humayun are in a relationship but then Humayun dumps her and marries someone else at his family’s behest. Ayesha Khan looks like she is pals with Sania but due to some reason they have a rift.
So I am quite intrigued about the issues that will be tackled in the drama since I have very high expectations from the low-key director who is known for his quality work such as his telefilm Chaubees Ghantay which won the best film award at the 2005 Karafilm Festival and the series Jaal (2007), had fascinating characters and interesting Kafka-esque kind of feel to the plays, a refreshing change from the fast-paced plays, soaps and serials that one is subjected to relentlessly.
Sania, we know will give a strong performance and Shahid will ensure that Humayun pushes the envelope in “Lamha Lamha Zindagi”. However it is what the director does with other minor characters that should be of interest to the viewers. Slated for 18 episodes, Shahid says that the number of episodes may increase depending on the response by the viewers.
