Karachi University students favour neutrality

Kya Karain, Naujawan aur Aaj Ka Pakistan

First beamed at: April 9, 2011

Channel:  BBC urdu/Express News

Host: Mohammed Hanif

In this episode Hanif informs us that KU was set up in 1957 with over 57 departments and is the birthplace of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the only academic institution with Rangers presence since the last 15 years.

He talks to the university students and the first important question that he asks if they are scared to come to a campus which is marked by regular bouts of violence. One student says that they have become used to the violence which afflicts the entire city anyways and hence university is not unique that way. Overall the students were unanimous in condemning the student wings of political parties and their indulgence in violence and also condemned the ineffective presence of rangers. Wide ranging solutions were offered by students to make the country a better place. These included presence of infrastructure, abiding the law and taking responsibility for your actions.

This episode is more focused and Hanif is a better host as compared to Wusutullah Khan as he was able to draw out informed opinions from students.
